Post subject:  is my kill switch posed to be normally open?

i hooked up a normally open kill sw and its workin bass-akwards...is it posed to be normally open or did i cross wires or sumtin'? i connected da wires tween the wires on da kill switch...wtf did i do wrong. when the button is pressed it turns da motor off. sad thing is i sell elec. supplies 4 a living! :roll: :lol:

It is suppose to be an N/C (meaning it is making contact), when the contact is broken then it will turn the motor off. You cannot hook up the wires backwards, because it is only 2 wires (doesn't have to be hooked up a curtain way). If your motor won’t start with the kill switch (plastic piece) in, then something is wrong. Either the kill switch or the wiring. If you have a meter you can check the kill switch, by putting the meter to read ohms (u) then touch the 2 wire post. If the meter reads something with the kill switch in place, remove the kill switch and put the meter across the 2 wire post, if you don’t get anything than the kill switch is good.

i dont know exactly its just that how our silicone control RECTIFIERS on our rig works after the power is saturated by excitation from our D.C. EMD generators

and the excitation is from the exciter board before its reaches the ac module. but that would be cool for the motors to have a power inverter you could connect to your motor to have 120 vac like a generator. we def have the engine power to put out some serious current.
