if i wanted to keep a motor stock as possible but a little more torque. would a longer crank stroke for more bottom end and a taller prop work?

cubic inch to cubic inch a short stroke big bore motor will make more power than a long stroke small bore motor.

as drake said.... ci to ci more bore will make more power..... if they have the same compression ratio... its in da math ya.....

psi x si = lbs

more si = more lbs.

more lbs = more lbs. ft.

more lbs ft. = more HP

basically all things being equal.... ci and CR.... the larger bore will make more power....

increasing the CR will make more HP in both cases, but theoretically the power produced by the larger bore will increase by the square of the difference between the two bores more...

i think dat is right.... about to confuse myself here....

change the stroke or add more bore you get more ci... ait dat simple

damn outstanding!!! you guys know your stuff. let me ask another question. whats the best way to increase hp but maintain the longevity of the motor?

Thanks you guys i agree bigger motor. if im not mistaken the weight ratio between a 16hp and 20 somethings is almost nothing. so guess i'll just start counting my beans.

33HP Generac weighs close to the same as a 16 or 23 Briggs.

Do a search on here. They have been talked about quite a bit recently. There is several links on where to purchase. Seem to be a very good motor if your gonna do mods. They are built like tanks. Have lots of bracing that the briggs motors lack. If your not gonna do mods, the consensus is they are not very good. Have stock carb and governor issues.

Where are you located.... go to Generac.com.... they have a dealer locator.... best and cheapest bet but may have to wait on a production run...

You can find one online but some places have some stock built up some don't.... took me 3 stores to finally find one available to ship right away.... gen-parts.com has some stock i believe they have 4 left last I talked to them.... Generac is also currently in production this month with the engine so you may luck out and get one at a really good price.

I agree if you get one go ahead and plan to do at least a mikuni and exhaust.....

the money you save on buying the motor will pay for the mikuni.... Generacs run about $500 cheaper than Briggs....
