Painting a boat
Ive got an 18’ PD hull and im thinkin about repainting it myself. Any advice, estimated costs? What kind of paint should i use? Etc

Use latex paint so that it will flex with the water, thin it with used motor oil, 5w-30. Goes on real thin but it’s basically the same thing as gator glide, no primer necessary as long as the motor oil is used. I like to do a wet sand between coats 5 and 6, 400 grit between coats. don’t do more than 2 coats in one day, let it cure. Then finish with a google search.

There are quite a few threads on this forum, and too many to count on the rest of the internet. Most of the guys that paint aluminum that used to be here aren't frequent visitors anymore. Use what they've posted in the past. If you can't or won't, then I recommend you dont undertake painting your boat. It might be too much.
