Post Re: Doin the steelflex thang
The way the boat is dented now, is not really hooks. Except for maybe back by the transom, couldn't really see. If you put cross braces in between, the stumps and whatnot will catch on the bracing, causing a real hook. A straight up dent, rather than something more like a tunnel. Also run a much higher risk of popping through the hull. Right now the only place a stump could really catch on anything and drive upward is on the transom.

The real "hooks" will cause a much greater loss in performance than what you got going on now. The steelflex should help a lil bit, but the metal is already stretched and will never be the same again. It sux, but it is what it is. Steelflex that sumbitch and drive the shit out of it till you finish her off.

you better be careful the first time you back that baby into the water...it will slide right off if it is not hooked up.. You can give it soft push and will slide right of the trailer.

I had a slick coat on mine when I bought the boat 5 yrs ago and most of it got chipped off from oyster bars.

Flipped it this spring and re-did with black Steel-flex. Hardest part was getting the old slick coat off and getting a 19x60 boat flipped over.

Unfortunately where I go, I just can't stay off the bars and i've already knocked off 30% off the steel-flex.

I had pine straw and pine cone seeds falling the day I put mine on, so I had to sit and babysit too.
