Paint Job with Styx
Here are some pics of my boat with the Max 4 Styx stencils. I am over 1/2 finish. Got to jack up the back of the boat so I can paint behind the rails and stuff.

Re: Paint Job with Styx
Steps I took Boat was originally the green color most bosts come. I primered it, then did a complete deadgrass color. Then I made some dark brown and black shading throughout.
The first stencil you use black and dark brown. I would spray the entire stencil black and then come back over it with the shades of dark brown.
Then the second stencil you use the deadgrass color with another darker/reddish brown.
Third stencil I cut into pieces and placed the leaves where I wanted them.
Kind of tough to keep the stencil tight to the boat but I used a broom handle to push the stencil against the boat. The stencils are taped to the boat of course.

Re: Paint Job with Styx
Looks really good MyBoy! I've got a set of stencils out in the shop that I've been having a couple years now. I just haven't got around to tackling it yet. really debating on whether or not I should just get someone else to do it! Interested? LOL

Re: Paint Job with Styx
The biggest pain is when your stencils get all of the overspray on them. Then its hard to get them to lay flat.
It looks great, did you have that problem??

Re: Paint Job with Styx
Not a chance I am doing another one of these. Takes way too damn long.....nothing like watching paint dry.
And yeah, once the stencils get a lot of paint on them they get difficult to handle.

Re: Paint Job with Styx
I know you can do that, but its a pain when you wanna get it done. Cause like Ryan said, there isnt anything more fun than watching paint dry. By the time the stencils get alot of paint on them, the paint is still wet, and its thick. It takes a long time for that crap to dry.

It was CCR and classic rock for me, when I put in the Zydeco things started moving though.
