Not what most of y'all are used to hunting from, but here's my setup...I bought the boat 4 years ago as a standard Gheenoe Classic--at the time it had a factory paint job, and no motor. Well, after 4 years of modifications--including the change from a longtail to a Copperhead SD, I've reached a stopping point--for now. Here's a few pictures of the transformation: |

One of those would be awesome in our 10hp restriction greentree resivors. That blind needs a little bit more to break it up though IMO. |

It's funny you say that...the first season I had the boat I couldn't afford to put a motor on it, so I hunted one of the local lakes that's trolling motor only. The boat is 15'6X55", but only weighs 225lbs, and that little 44lb thrust trolling motor can push/pull it through the weeds at a pretty decent clip. That trolling motor and homemade mount come off during duck season, but during the summer that boat is a fishing machine. woodiebuster, I also hunt a lake with HP restrictions, and that setup is perfect for it. I haven't decided what-if anything I'm going to do to the blind. I have a bunch of leftover rafia grass from my last blind that I may put on it, but so far I've been pretty impressed with how well it blends in to the area I hunt. I usually drive the boat up into the edge of a floating island or some other type of cover, and because the boat is so low-profile, that blind sits pretty level with the surrounding vegetation and helps break it up. |

Nice, do you have any Pics of your blind frame? |

No pics of the frame, but the blind is made by Flyway Specialties. Here's a link to the website: http://www.flywayspecialties.com/ I've had the blind frame for 2 years, but after a nightmare season of having to deal with Cabelas cheap die-cut material last year, I finally bit the bullet and had Jamey at Flyway Specialties install "his" material. Couldn't be happier. |

I have a 13' Gheenoe we bought for $200 18 years ago. Used to have a real low profile blind I made from PVC. It was deadly. I haven't used the boat in years but I will never sell it. I'd be curious to see if the 13 footer could handle a small Copperhead. |

had a buddy with a glass shop knock one off years ago. put a long tail on it and it worked pretty good. they are very stabile. you can stand on the gunwell w/o taking on water. its got the kayak thing going on, the further it leans the more surface area it has. |

Wouldn't be a bad choice for me.... Who makes that hull? |

I used to have that exact hull but sold it because some of the places we hunted were full of stumps and I didn't wana risk putting a hole in it. Those things are EXTREMELY stable and awesome for sneaking up on fish. I had a buddy that had the bigger center console model with a 40hp on the back. Sitting that close to the water you felt like you were sitting on a floating rocket. Great looking rig and upgrades. |

The boat is a Gheenoe...The the lakes I typically hunt don't have that many stumps, they're just shallow and THICK with vegetation. That hull only weighs 225lbs, but it's extremely stable and durable (for a fiberglass skiff). As long as there's at least SOME water or soft bottom, and I don't stop or slow down, that rig will keep on trucking. |

That definately gives me an option for a different direction to go in.... Idk if I want big and fast or small and manueverable after seeing this rig |

| Post subject: | Re: Something a little bit different... |
These rigs are very maneuverable, and can be about as fast as you want them to be...Gheenoe Classics are rated for up to 25hp, and will FLY with that HP. I'm running a 12hp copperhead (I hunt lakes with HP restrictions) and by myself I'm running 24-25mph, 19-20mph with 3 people and gear. With the 18 copperhead or a larger HP setup, that boat would probably take off. |
