After looking at a multitude of options, by several twists of fate, an Excel 1645 shallow water with a 23 SD is going to be the rig for the upcoming season. I'm not sure what to expect in terms of performance but as long as it will get two guys and a few decoys on plane and run through some vegetation I will be satisfied.

The hull weight is listed at 400#, it is what they call their 'Triple Taper Chine' which is closer to rounded than square, 45" bottom, 60" beam. If anybody here has any experience with a set up similar to this one I'd like to hear about it.

What made ya decide on the excel vs the gd hull?

I'm in the fiberglass boat business and had been kicking around the idea of adding an aluminum boat line for a few years, just never found a line that we were crazy about. I really wanted to be able to offer a high quality mud boat/motor combo as well as more traditional, outboard powered boats. Excel/Mud Buddy looks to be a great fit for us.

The guys at both Excel and Mud Buddy have been tremendous to work with and we are now anxiously awaiting our first load of boats! We are really looking forward to expanding into the mud boat world and introducing this type of boat into our area.
