am going to be building a speaker box to accomadate a subwoofer (sealed box) and a pair of speakers for the summer. I am trying to find a decent marine amplifier, preferably 3 or 4 channel (4 channel must be bridgeable), that i can run without a head unit and instead plug my ipod directly into. any advice? |

You don't have to have a head unit, but the sound will be better if you run it through a good source. If you are hooking it up to one of the flea market brand amps, it doesn't really matter what you do. |

If ya use a head unit and an amp it'll blare mines loader than my truck and can actually hear it really clear when I'm running but that's the way I like it so that's my 2 cents |

I find my radio cooler seldom makes the trip as well. Always someone else with tunes playin' at rides... Now if it's just me and I'm out for a cruise with a few beers heck yah it's in there! There are songs that come on that take you to that special time & place. Being on the water is my escape from it all. I don't need anything blaring but a couple of good tunes and a mud motor at your hand will put a shit eating grin on anyone's face! |

It's different if your out running in an area where no one else can go, or is trying to fish. It's a dick move to have your radio blaring in an area where people are fishing and trying to enjoy some peace and quite. |
