 Removing hydroturf?
I doubt there is an easy way. I had to remove it from a fiberglass boat and we used a belt sander! Bought a bunch of cheap belts from harbor freight and went to town! Messy as hell, but it worked.

 Re: Removing hydroturf?
Why are you taking it off? What is holding it down, contact cement or 3m backing? I would think some of that heavy duty stripper (that jelly like stuff) would work if you can get down to the adhesive.

 Removing hydroturf?
Why? Can't answer that in anyway that makes sense. LOL ! Bc I'm a dumbarse is only legitimate answer!
I'm repainting and decided to replace with new turf.
The glue is 3M backing. I may have used cement as well on corners, I can't remember.

 Re: Removing hydroturf?
In the middle of removing mine. It had the 3m adhesive backing. Park it in the sun and work on it then. It will peel up if you do it SLOWLY. I imagine if I have to do this again I will soak it with gas, set it on fire and hope for the best.

 Re: Removing hydroturf?
I like the fire idea. Just be sure to have a way to quickly extinguish it. You don't want the aluminum to get too hot.

 Removing hydroturf?
Try using a floor scraper, the ones with the replaceable razor blades. Then finish up with a solvent to get the rest off. Lots of manual labor!

 Removing hydroturf?
I'm thinking about a grinder with a wire wheel as well.
I'll try a scraper with razors.

 Re: Removing hydroturf?
I ripped up about a 2 foot square of mine the other day to rearrange my battery placement and said right then the rest will have to wear off before I try to get it up. I couldn't get it to peel in sheets, it kept tearing and I'd have to get it started again. It has the 3M backing.
Turbo torch it!

 Re: Removing hydroturf?
I have heard its best to use one of these:
I have one, just havent had the time to change out my turf, so I can't report on its effectiveness. I've been told that it takes the turf off like shearing a sheep.

 Re: Removing hydroturf?
Has anyone tried the 3M adhesive remover? I have used it on other adhesives and it is the best remover I have ever seen. Do not spray it on any adhesive parts you want to keep in place...it will take all adhesive off in seconds. May want to try it.

 Re: Removing hydroturf?
I removed it off the floor sheets in a 1848. This is why I will never put it in my boats. With all the beating I put my boat through, there are times I need to get under the false floor to do repairs and beat out hooks.
I used a scraper to get the bulk of it off, then tried acetone which didn't work worth shit, then threw the floor sheets in the sand blaster which didn't work worth shit, then finished up with a DA to get the last of it. If I would have added up my time new aluminum would have been much cheaper! It is great stuff on your feet, but I'll just stick to wearing flipflops!!!

 Re: Removing hydroturf?
I pulled most of mine up but it left little pieces all over. I then used an attachment for a drill that has the hard sponge looking wheel and it worked great.
