Pd has a short and a tall motor. It needs to be matched to the hull. |

What can I measure to make sure it's short? |

I don't know the measurements. Post a pic that has a good shot from the clutch to the foot. |

If the transom heights are matched, it will probably work okay. It is def not an ideal hull for that motor. Something like a 1740 smooth bottom would probably work best. If you post the pic I requested, I can tell you whether its a short or tall. The tall has a 4" extension under the tower housing. |

Someone posted this today. If yours has the lower section where the knob is, its a tall. If that section below the tower housing is not there, its a short. |

I am not going to say that it won't work on your boat but I put a 27 prodrive on a 14x42 and it did not work ended up selling out and buying a 36 prodrive on a 17x50 works great. The other boat would not plain. Did not understand going bigger was better but it was proven to me. The dealer I bought the 27 from put it on a 16x52 and it would plain out just kind of struggled with 3 people in the boat that is why I went with the 36 instead of just a new boat. |

Yeah I think ima just stick with an outboard but try and find a 40 to put on it. An try and find another long tail to put on it for duck season. I had a 27 GDLT and it pushed the boat good! |

So are you saying a long tail would work better? If so what are the pros and cons? If you think a long tail is a better way to go, what size engine? What brand? I not trying to defend anything, just trying to make the right choice. |

I had a 36hp prodrive mounted on a 16x48 war eagle. It ran great with just me and my dog, but I could only get around 13 mph with a full hunting load. Ended up going with a 18x60 phowledr and now am running around 20 mph with a full hunting load. The big thing is surface area (did not believe it at first but am a believer now) and the war did not have enough for my mud motor. |
