Well guys,
I started a complete makeover of my boat. I have to move some weight around bacause I can't run my boat by myself. The boat was porpusing too bad. I had previously cut my bow open to install 2 6 gallon fuel tanks under there. Well, that helped until I starting modding the motor. So now, the new project has begin. Under the bow where the fuel tanks were, I'm mounting my dual batteries and a 2 bank on board charger. I'm having a new 12 gallon fuel tank built. The tank is going to be at the end of the deck. Its 6" tall, so I'll be able to use it as a step to get onto the deck. And while I'm doing all of this, I'm rewiring the entire boat. Going to move my switch panel to make it a little more accessible. The only real weight I'm adding is the 2 bank charger and the weight of the aluminum tank. I already had 2 batteries. One at the transom and one at the bow. Hopefully getting the battery out of the back will fix my problem.

Here is a pic of the old gas tank setup.

I'll attach more pics as the project goes on. That is if anyone is interested.

Between the crappy weather and work, I finally got the rewiring part of this project finished this morning. I moved the battery from the back of the boat to under the bow. Also installed my spare/trolling motor battery under the other side of the bow. You can't see form the pics, but mounted in front of the 2 batteries is a Minn Kota 2 bank battery charger. I mounted the plug thru the deck. Makes it easy to just plug in the extension cord every time I put her back in the shed.. I ran my battery cables thru the ribs up to the bow. Then I ran a new power and ground feed thru another rib and punched a hole into the drivers side storage box. I mounted a distrubution block to the wall of the storage box. Then made all my connections to that. I also moved my switch panel. The previous owner had the switch panel mounted under the GPS. That location made it difficult to see at night. The new location will be much easier to see.

I'm waiting for the fab shop to call me so I can bring the boat over there for final measurements for the custom gas tank. Here are some pics of the finished electrical project.

No, turns out I'm not going to use it. Found someone to build me a custom tank. Its gonna be the width of the floor. 10 inches deep and 6 inches tall. Its gonna be a step to get onto the bow. Thats the route i wanted to go in the first place. Hopefully, it'll be finished this week.

The distribution block is not fused. I placed an in-line fuse between each connection in the block and the switch. The distribution block is made by Blue Sea Systems. I got it from a local boating supply house.

New fuel tank is finished. Put it in the boat today for a test fit. I'm happy with it. Gotta get me some aluminum angle to mount it. Gonna try to get some paint on it this week. Here are some pics I took when I put it in the boat today. I'll try to get some better ones soon.

Man boat looks good... Got a ? what was the best way to get all the foam out of the bow? I just cut mine and have been working on it.... Its a pain in the near to get the foam out.

I got in the bow with a razor knife. Cut chunks of foam and pulled till it came out. No real trick to it. Also, I know that an electric filet knife works really well for cutting the foam.

Nice....

Those dual batteries will be great for night opps with lights
and extended fishing / runtime with the trolling motor....

She ought to balance out nice on solo runs now too....

She is getting better. Haven't ran solo with the tank yet. But with the batteries up there I'd get about 27 or so before the porpusing would start. Way better than the 21 i would get before. Hopefully I'll get a chance to run solo soon. I think with just a little adjustment of the tabs on the motor I'll be set.

Is your floor rhinolined?

Actually, its Herculiner. This was my first time putting this stuff down, so I didn't really know what I was doing. I also had about 4 gallons of gas spill and sit on the floor of the boat for about 2 weeks. The fuel line on my generator busted and drained onto the floor. I was out of town and didn't catch it for a while. The rest of the floor is holding up really well. Now that I've done a few more bedliners with this stuff I'm gonna redo the boat. Better prepwork makes it hold up great!

I did the Herculiner in mine, holdin' up good, except it shrank a little, so you can see some specks of aluminum where I didn't go heavy enough. I used my sandblasting gun to spray it, just stabbed a hole in the top of the Herculiner can and stuck the siphon in. You better move though, it'll dump a gallon out in no time. I wann do something like that with my gas tank too, put it under the bow with a fill neck coming out.
