Guys i need a few ideas or pics for spud pole mount for the bow of my gd 1654 boat i was going to just weld a id 1- 1/2 sched 40 tube to the front and to that rib that runs vertical on the nose of the boat but im just not sure. You can buy the brackets from GD that mount on the boat using riv-nuts. The local dealer here in Beaumont had some on a boat he was working on. They aren't on GD website, you might have to call them |

Or weld that tube slot to a c-clamp, add hydro turf to the jaw of the clamp. Clamp anywhere you want it at . Portable , move able , spud pole bracket. I've a go devil boat and that's what I did . H Finn |

I have what's pictured there on that boat, except mines welded on. GoDevil is doing spud holes thru the front deck nowadays. I've thought many times about cutting mine off and finding a builder to put one through the deck of mine. It's just cleaner and out of the way. I have smacked mine on a dock once or twice and egg shaped it, you can't really just drop a pole thru it anymore. It hangs up. If you do that external bracket just make sure it's somewhere out of the way where it won't get hit head on by something real solid. It'll basically render it useless. |

Yes that's what I as talking about. Mine new boat is thru the hull, but the last GD I had I bought used and the guy had added thru hull by a welder |

Back in the younger redneck days, pvc poles with end caps and a "T" in one end and spray can foam filled, stuck them in the mud and tied the boat to them. Worked well even when a tug and tow came down the Intercoastal and did that "suck the water out then tidal waved back in". |
