how many bunks do you guys have on your trailer? mine has two on the trailer for a 2054 with a .190 bottom. I don't have far to go to the lake when I'm at home but I have a few trips planned that are 12+ hour stretches on South Louisiana roads.

I'm trying to figure out if I should add more bunks to the trailer or not for those long, very bumpy rides.

I can replace the 2x4's with 2x6's no problem but I am also curious what the rest of you guys have and see if that is enough based on the general consensus

Thanks...

Where do the runners fall out on your floor? Do they fall out under the runners?

Personally I have (4) 2x4s, laid down flat. 2 catch the outter edges, and two fall out under runners.

I have 4 bunks (2x6) laid flat that fall under the boat like described above.

4 2x6's under a 54" bottom 3/16/.190, 2 seems like not enough.

photobucket has changed their image rules so I can't post a picture yet. I'll try google... It doesn't embed, but here is what they look like.

I can't tell if they are under the runners or not without climbing in and measuring from the edge of the boat. It has enough room to slide around that it probably slips off part of them anyway. I'll measure this weekend when I'm not at work.

Looks like I'll be upgrading the 2x4's to at least 2x6's and will be on the look out for new brackets to add more. The existing brackets are welded on but I know there are clamp on brackets as well. I may be able to weld tabs on later but that is still unknown at the moment.

Thanks for the help guys... I appreciate it.

I'm considering just adding plywood over my bunks and adding a big sheet of poly.
