Post Thinking of having a boat built
Just started looking around trying to see if there is something that fits the bill.

I have been in a few flat bottom rigs when I was in FL and was impressed. We have ran long tails here in Ohio but really lack on the speed side for long runs. I'm trying to find a hull that will not beat the snot out of us in a 2-3 foot chop if we get caught across the bay.

My buddy has a nice deep V Lund but lack the ability to get back into some of the areas or chance getting caught of the water blows out of the bay while layout shooting.

Does anyone have recommendations that carry a load well, handles a chop while still running through shallows. Thinking i want to stay with a 18 ft max and wide enough to do a low profile recliner blind similar to the delta zero gravity blind chair.

Man I hunt the bay a lot here in Texas. I run an 1860. I've been happy with my boat & the build since 2009. I wouldn't change a thing and that was 8 years ago.

The flat bottom across the bay is sometimes a PITA with chop but I have to remind myself this is a backwater boat and not really made to cross a 3.5 mile bay with 2' chop. However, I've crossed the bay countless times & in some nasty conditions and have never been worried or in fear of swamping.

The load carrying of the 1860 is very good, you can read my review on here. I eventually added mods to carry a even bigger load and to gain some top end.
