I bought a 2015 alweld 1860 flat the outboard rated on it is 70 hp. A 2017 Alweld 1860 flat is rated is 90 hp Why? I have found a killer deal on a Yamaha f90fl both are brand new and at the same price to me all you can get. Would the 90 work on mine boat.

Get what the boat is rated for. It'll run great with the 70. Flats with outboards tend to slide and get people into trouble. If it had some deadrise, my suggestion might be different. The manufacturer has them rated for a reason. Ask them if you're curious (don't ask the salesman. he just wants your money).

It you have insurance and over power your boat you don't have insurance. If you already don't have insurance look at the weight and torque deference. sometime more is not better

u ever see anybody say, I wish I had less horsepower? lol

I have a grizzly 1860 with a 60 merc tiller. it's ok, but I wish I had a 90 or better yet a 115 tiller on it.
