I have an older 15x42 alumaweld boat with a short transom and I will be removing the 25hp mercury off of it for a sd. I'm wanting to get a new gatortail but am not sure of going with the 25 GTR EFI or the 35 GTR. I am planning on doing some transom work to beef it up for the extra weight of the sd. I am not sure whether I should get the 35 GTR and raise the transom 5" or if I should just beef up the transom and leave it at 16" and go with a 25 GTR EFI. One of my major concerns is weight in the rear of the boat, and it sitting too low in the water with the 35hp motor. I am not looking to buy another hull right now and want to run this boat until I am unable to. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Re: 15x42 alumaweld 25 or 35 GTR?
If you plan on buying another hull (16' or larger mud hull) in the near future go as big as you can afford. With your current setup a 23 copperhead would be lighter than the GTR.
