Jack plate
This might be a stupid question or not even make sense. Im wondering if there is such thing as a jack plate that is slanted on the transom side and straight on the motor side. And if there is where would I get such a thing?

Re: Jack plate
You could use transom wedges.

Re: Jack plate
I think I'm gonna have to get it built for it to be exactly the ti ght angle of the transom

Re: Jack plate
This is how my motor sits right now. I think that if I was to straighten it up i would get better performance than it trying to push the boat at an angle

Re: Jack plate
It's a 13 year old frame that I got for 200 bucks so it ain't in the best shape. The guy I got it from said it had the electric trim cylinder but it kept shearing the pin or something so he just put a pipe in it so it's manual trim now. I can hold it up where it rides at the surfacw but I would really like for it to just rest that way on its own

Re: Jack plate
Yes I just have to hold it but most of the time I don't really have to hold pressure on it when I'm wide open. I've looked on bps website but I'm not really sure what cylinder I would need but I would much rather have that than this home made pipe

Re: Jack plate
that lower unit looks nothing like the 04 I used to own back in the day. that looks like a newer tail shaft housing. the drive length on my 04 was a 48'' drive. that looks like a shorter 27 or 32'' drive. If you look at the top of the belt housing you can see the mounting holes for the tailshaft brace.

Re: Jack plate
My 04 came with some sort of hydraulic cyl on it with a little push button deal. I bought a kit from mudbuddy back then and converted it to electric.

Re: Jack plate
The 04 models used a Bear actuator. The 48" drive was on the Louisiana special, otherwise it was shorter on the other models.

Re: Jack plate
How could I figure out what size actuator I need?

Re: Jack plate
you can also try to get intouch with Mudbuddy and get a trim unit. I don't think they offer a bear trim anymore, I think its a Thompson trim unit. It is an easy install and can be done in less than 30 min. I had a frame just like that one. I think the trim unit was in the $250-$300 range.
