I am about to buy a Boat and Motor. I have been running a Mud Motor for a while running a Go Devil. I want a Mud Boat for Fishing stump infested areas, I dont duck hunt at all. I do Bow Fish every now and then. I want to be able to fish two at all times and three at times. Been looking at Go Devil and Gator Trax but can not make up my mind. Looked at a Sea Ark that was totally set up wrong with a Mud Buddy Motor. This Boat will set out in the Weather constantly and I want weather proof Rod compartments. Recommendations on the Boat?

We do have a Mud buddy dealer close but I have not had any dealings with Mud Buddy. I would like to have Reverse though and I want a good size engine for going across some big Lakes. Since I live in Texas there is not a lot of Mud Motors around. Recommendation on an Engine?

Hey bud, what size boat are you looking to get? I can say this from going in my friends boats as opposed to my own. If you want awesome performance in reverse and in stumps, get you a pro-drive. Their boats all have a 3/16s bottom on them and make them very heavy, but they are Bullet proof. You will sacrifice some speed because of the weight, but that shouldn't be an issue if you are using it for fishing a lot and jumping stumps etc. I have no experience in gatortail boats, just the motors. The GT boats, from what I am told, hold up nicely and are lighter than the PD boats and handle well. I've always been partial to crawfish skiffs because, paired with the right motor, they handle very well and are made to go through the cypress trees and flooded timber because of the raised, pointed bow.

In conclusion, if I was going to do it again on a boat build, I would holla at Jeremy in breaux bridge. He did the custom work on my skiff and built a boat for my buddy that is a beauty. Anything you want made, he can do it. Super nice guy, great business man, and very reasonable.

If reverse is a must, all the major brands have reverse now in the surface drive department. I like my gatortail because I find the belt driven surface drives are a bit quicker than the gear driven, but nothing can hang with a pro-drive in reverse, so it just depends on what you want.

Hit me up if you want Jeremy's contact info bud.

I was basing that on my buddy's boats, so they must have ordered them with the 3/16s bottoms on there's. the 3/16 is nice for the timber though I must say.

Sounds like it's going to be a nice rig bro. Send pics when it's complete and you get it back.
