Bits and pieces here and there. It was about 5-6 yrs ago though and I usually can't even remember what I had for breakfast 1 hour earlier these days so asking me where I found it is asking a lot.

Building a tunnel is not as simple as cutting and building a "notch" in your hull. Hopefully, the guy doing yours has enough experience and know-how to get the dimensions and physics right. Do some research on venting the tunnel. When I was researching tunnels several years ago, I read a lot of stuff on that and it might be a good idea on a larger boat/motor like yours. https://www.microskiff.com/threads/tunn ... ted.28437/ |

Tunnel only purpose is to let an outboard run 2-3 inches shallower when on plane. And to really take advantage of that is to have a hydraulic jack plate. On most boats if it is a fixed jack plate it will tend to cavitate when taking off. The expense IMO compared to performance and/or usefulness is a flip of the coin. You can also jump up on plane quicker (without tunnel) if you have a passenger go to the bow. and/or cut a little circle when accelerating. A 4 blade prop helps a lot also. |

If your looking for a shallow water set up, I would look into finding a Yamaha 150 TRP over the etec. It’s not gonna give you any better performance on top but it’s crazy how shallow they will get up in. I been in a 22’ majek many times and plained out in situations many boats would have been stuck in. |

I’m buying a new engine, so the yahama trp 150 is out of the question. The reason behind the etec is bc it’s 60# lighter than yahama F150. The 135 etec is supposed to be putting out 148hp from what I read. It has a shallow water pick up on the nose cone of the LU and has a better hole shot than any other comparable 4stroke. I know the dealer so that was a big plus in going with that engine. I’m more looking for size and dimensions of the tunnel and the vent system, but any and all comments will be accepted. Here are some things I will tell you is don't build the tunnel wider in the front and taper to back that will make your boat slow. As for dimensions you need to size the tunnel to the prop and lower unit. The rise over run should be 1" on 12". |

Yes had got that that far already thanks though. I going with a round vented tunnel. I found someone local with a lot of experience that is helping me.
