Hi folks! It's time to purchase a new rig, I have been searching relentlessly for weeks and can hardly find solid info to what I'm looking for. Here's my delima.. I will be ordering a new package from go devil, 40efi fnr, and the boat is what I have issues with..
I'll tell ya why..
I hunt and fish in rivers, sloughs, will be bay fishing and hunting. My native terrain is stump laden backwaters, vegetation and beaver dams.
Now.. I'm thinking 1860, I will have wifey and kids on board, we like the idea of the taller sides with the 1854. I like the idea of better turns with the 1856 round chine. I'm also not against a 20 footer.
Question is performance vs 1856 round chine vs 1854 tapered vs 20 footer.? I also need to haul moderate loads, my friends are fat..
I'd really appreciate the input, thanks!

The 20 will plane out and haul loads easier than the 18, the 54 will turn better than the wider boats. Theyll all run similar speeds light and close enough loaded, that it should be about getting the space you want and need. There's a thread from a month or 2 ago discussing this in more detail.

Thank you for the reply! I'm having a hard time finding anyone with a 2054 though.

North la hunter built himself a nice one, and a guy I hunt with has a 1954 gtrax with a huntdeck, which puts it at 20.5 ft. Stock engine until this past year, he added a carb. Setxlongtail had a 1860 godevil until a few weeks ago.
