Post GTR 37 efi - Boat Recommendations
I have a stock 37efi GTR. I'm looking for a mud boat around 1748 or 1754. Will there be much of a speed difference between the two?

The 1754 would be better for the extra room bro. I like my 48 though for fitting through the cypress trees, but the more room the better really bro

Post Re: GTR 37 efi - Boat Recommendations
I've got a Mud Runner 170 (1748) with the GTR 37EFI and it scoots right along.

My question is, I'm new to mud motors but not to running boats, is it best to trim down a little to get the boat on plane, then trim up the little bit, or just leave it trimmed all the way up. I spent 10 years in the Coast Guard running small boats, and when I hear the cavitation I cringe because for a normal prop that would create heat and ruin the prop. When I trim out and just run it like the guy told me it cavitates pretty bad for a little while and seems to struggle getting on plane. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Nah mine isn’t to bad. Done a lot of cutting on it. It’s actually a lot quicker than people think it would be. I was talking about slow getting up with the prop trimmed high. The way I do it, it hops up and goes pretty quick.
