Post Fab guys - I have some questions
Hey guys,

Longtime lurker. I had a new 16x48 w/ hunt deck built earlier this year. I decided to opt out of add on's that I figured I could wait for.

I'm happy with the boat but there's some minor things at did bug me. One being that the front deck is too low and I can't slide my gas tanks under there. Looking at getting a hatch installed that's flush using those rubber tie downs that way I can keep some weight up front.

I dont have any ribs or cat walks to hide wiring so I'm tempted to get half pipe welded in too along with 2 upright braces on each side so I can mount spud poles.

For those that have been around the block a few times, any idea how much that work would run? I'm moving from TX to NC in a week and a half so if there's any fabricators on here from NC, please give me a holler.

TIA

don't know if it's a option, but u might want to get a different gas tank that is a lower profile and will fit under your deck. google gas tank and click on images, they make them all shapes/sizes.
on the wire/hoses, can you run them under your floor? might be cheaper/easier?

good luck!

I've tried two different "low profile" tanks an haven't had any luck. There would be room if the cross bracing had been offset a couple inches.

As far as the floor goes there isnt enough room. I have cross and one main longitutional braving and there definitely isnt any room to run fuel lines. Wires are a big maybe.

I've added a picture so you can get an idea.

Good looking boat, who built it? Is is 16 feet including the hunt deck?

A good fabricator could add the pipe and spud mounts in probably 1.5-2 hours. If you can give them pre fabbed mounts or cut the pipe in half beforehand you can save even more time. Helps that you have an unpainted hull. Most shops in my area are around $70ish per hour. When I moved several years ago I called the local boat dealer in my area and asked who he recommended. He gave me the name guy that did all of their repair work, worked out well.

Thanks, Extreme Metal Fab in Pierre Part, LA built it. Its 17'6" including the hunt deck. Its primed and painted but I'll get a wire wheel and prep before I being it in.

Just checked work and couldn't find any aluminum pipe.

Why did they do the bracing like that? This boat for an outboard?

I honestly couldn't tell you but I have a SD on it. Coming from weldbilts this was my first "custom" build.

When I upgrade later down the road I'm going with a different builder.

Couldn’t you drill a hole in the top of the longitudinal brace at each end, add a rubber grommet, then run your fuel line through it?

after looking at ur pics, this is what I would do.....
close in your front deck.
put a hatch on it so u have real dry storage under the deck.

than have the extreme guys build u a gas tank that goes across the boat next to the deck. they will know what to do.

put a halfpipe to run wires/gas line.

done. for the life of the boat. enjoy!!!!
