Post Paint Job
I’m planning on give my ole boat a paint job after I get the last bit of work done. I don’t have any experience with a paint gun but I’ve read some on here and decided to go with duralux aluminum boat green. The question I have is do I need a gravity fed sprayer or the kind with the can on the bottom? And around how many gallons would it take to do a 16x48 inside and out

Probably a gallon and a half. Did my 1440 with 3 quarts. Honestly dude, I did my big boat with a sherwin williams brush and it came out great. I guess it's just the finish you desire. I was happy with the brush application and it was easy AF to apply. Did my small boat in a sprayer with bottom mount tank and didn't find it came out any different over the brush, but I had to do a couple coats with the brush

I honestly don’t know why I want to spray it. I’m not too handy with a brush. I guess I’m afraid I’ll have it all uneven looking if I brush it

If you bought the aluminum boat paint, it almost self levels and should be rolled not sprayed. Its thick and dries almost like a vinyl. You shouldn't have an issue getting it to lay flat with a roller. If I can do it, anyone can. If you wanted to spray it, a different type of paint would have been better.

I've never rolled one, but you are probably right, that would probably be the best application. No one can tell that I painted mine with a brush and I'm no artist lol

I appreciate all the input. I guess I am gonna try to roll it if that’s where I’ll get the best results. I’ll post some pics once I get it done. Thanks again
