Post Ideal Boat for Louisiana Marsh Duck Hunting and Red Fishing
This is for duck hunting and red fishing in the Louisiana marsh. What is your ideal boat design and dimensions for using up to a max of a 25hp longtail motor? Also, brand of longtail you would use?

I'm from south Louisiana bro, do all my hunting in the marsh and a lot of redfishing. Consider getting you a surface drive with reverse, you won't be unhappy with that decision when doing sight fishing for reds. Just something to think about bro

Ahhhhh I see bro. It's a 25 hp limit where you go?

Might want to consider the gatortail 25 big block that has reverse bro. The mudbuddy mini may be a good option as well

Post Re: Ideal Boat for Louisiana Marsh Duck Hunting and Red Fish
I have been hunting out there for a good many years. I do the outboard and pirogues. Had a gt on an 18' before the ban but still hunted out of the marsh in the grass and pirogues in. It was 16 hp and it was changed to 25hp. Was thinking of having another rid to take with my 10 yr old daughter when she goes or close by hunts. I hunt way up and its 45-1 hr from my camp in shell beach. I am having access to a new gd1838 with a 25 and blind to try out. If I like it I might do 1838/42 light hull(.100) and a backwater 25 set up with the briggs 25 big block for trips with the little girl closer in the wma. Some guys near me tow 15/16' long tails with a bay boat into the wma and go from there. I use to do that downriver in venice for years but it would be a hassle running winding bayous. Would be ok running in lake on decent days, but those days would be less than ideal duck days. I'll keep ya posted on the new gd rig that will be left for me to use . I think the big block 25 briggs Backwater motor set up would be best option. Or getting any long tail set up with that motor. I'm hunting out there 5 days a week and sometimes more. PM me if ya have any questions.
