Post subject:  Stopped by the Game Warden

I have a GTR 40 and Baggy worked my Fat Blade prop. I got stopped by the Game Warden the other day for leaving a Wake in a No Wake Zone. Problem was I was just Idling and could not go any slower unless I took it out of gear. My boat really idles fast and if I hit the Trailer in gear, I will jump into the Truck. My Motor is idling fine, the boat just goes fast at idle. Anybody else have this problem?

Can't you trim up some and take some thrust off the prop?

You could push down on the tiller, or adjust the trim pin, or use your trolling motor. Doesn't really seem like a problem other than you were just trusting your extra heavy duty hull wasn't making a wake.

Bump it in and out of gear, or trim up.

Trim up, that 2 blade has a lot of thrust. If you don't trim up, you will continue to slam into your trailer and or truck

I've seen it all! Lordy Yes MM's idle fast cause the prop is turning faster per engine rpm than most outboards. Gear ratio...

Put runners and guides on the sides of your trailer and no matter how hard the wind is blowing or the current, your boat won't miss the trailer and you won't ever need reverse when trailering your rig

I’ve hit my side bunks pretty hard. Especially in high wind but that’s what side bunks are for. Haven’t broke anything yet. Just don’t back to far in the water. I’ve seen some folks with their bunks fully submerged. My side bunks are fully out of the water so they can help guide the boat.
As for you making a wake just trim up like some of the other guys said.

Looks like you are one of those guys who has 500000 reasons why you can't fix your simple problem. If all of what everyone said can't help you, get used to getting stopped by wardens and slamming into your trailer and truck. I got no other solutions

I thought he was posting because he didn't realize he was making a wake and assumed because he was at idle all was fine. But the extra heavy duty boat....

And I recall at least a couple times you've been here "on the internet" asking questions because something wasn't right. Your attempt to defend your dignity (the last place you would come for help...) is in vain, dear sir.

And that may be flawed, too, because there are quite a few guys on this forum (the internet) that I trust and are right far more than many dealers, service people, and even some boat builders.

A wake is a wake. Game warden doesn't care that you were at idle or not. That's a setup/tuning issue. Change the pin location on your frame, and you will be able to trim up farther. You still will be able to trim down for your use of reverse.

No lie just about every mud motor will leave a small wake at idle. Hell they idle about 1250-1300 out of gear and about 850-1000 in gear. they move pretty swift at idle.. You need to bump the clutch to not make a wake in a respectable fashion.

It works, that is my fat ass, I bowfish allot up here. In the daytime a push pole and bow l stack fish. At night you can use motor as blue sky stated. Hell my buddy runs a 5hp kicker and fishes at 5mph or faster and this happens, over 50lb I put first arrow

That is a hell of a lot of Catfish bait there. My Daughter caught three of these the other day on a Spinning Rig.

Toss on a suspended jerk bait or a big bright crank and let it rip. Needle nose love them.

I don't think I've ever used reverse when loading my boat. If you have to go in hard (pun intended) just pull the trailer out of the water a bit more than normal.....never done that either but I would if I faced your delima.
