Anybody have pros/cons of either?

Reading reviews in other forums about AT being the superior product. I know a few MMT’ers have the SeaDek. How’s that holding up/working out for y’all?

With all of the sexual intellectuals on this site, I finally found a topic that has them stumped.

I went to the Northwest Sportshow today and there was an Aquatraction booth. Stuff looked nice, they had it cut out in patterns and fitted to a swim deck. I didn’t stop and look close to see if it seemed durable or not.

They pattern they had done for the show looked cleaner than the hydro turf I’ve seen.

Both seadeck and aquatraction look cleaner, but for the price difference, I'll happily stick with hydro turf. Jay's seadeck is nice though. I feel you're probably good either way you go, blue.

So that stuff is a lot more expensive than hydroturf? Wow, and I thought hydroturf was expensive lol

Is Jay’s Seadek holding up?He’s had it about 2-3 years, now?

My hydroturf started wearing away after a couple years....and leaving a black film on anything that touched it. By the time I sold my boat, I was down to bare aluminum on my casting deck, on the floor where I stepped off the deck and behind the console from where I steered.

I've noticed some people have zero issues with their turf, and some have the same experience as you. Mine is going on year 5 and it sat in the weather for 3 of those and it's still in good shape.

Yeah, I think its 3 years on his, he hasn't been on here any so you'll have to ask him directly, but he hasn't said anything about having issues with it that I recall.

I'm pretty sure for a boat that size it costs something close to 4k for the custom cut and install. It's a bit denser, and may be a different material, so it probably holds up better and is more consistent from batch to batch than hydro turf seems to be. With as much as you use your boat, I would pick one of those 2 and try it, and lesson learned if it doesn't hold up (though I bet you'll be happier with it than you would turf if you get one of those bad batches).

And if you're replacing $700 (or more) worth of turf and install costs on a bay boat every 3 years or sooner because of use or crappy quality control, and you get 12 years of use (which is reasonable) out of the more expensive stuff, it not nearly as big of a cost difference. Same concept as cheap tires vs more expensive but higher mileage versions. Doesn't make sense until you start doing the math on what you spend replacing it more often. And if it's more comfortable to stand on, then you get more use out of the investment you made on the boat (which in this case isn't pocket change). If you've got 8k in your boat, 4k more is a lot, but if you're spending 40k, it's a much smaller piece of the pie.

I agree, but I’m in the 8k dollar boat category, not the 40k dollar category

I have sea dek on my flats boat, I’ve had it since 2006 .
I scrub it with simple green after every trip.

I have hydro turf on my mud boat. I wash once after duck season is over

Both boats stay in the garage when not in use.

With all that said, The sea dek is more comfortable but I don’t think it would hold up to the abuse of duck hunting .

Sorry no info on the other product

My understanding is seadeck runs around $18 a foot
