New boat question
Just picked up a 2016 havoc 556 mst. It’s got a 2014 prodrive 36efi. Just seeing what other people are getting with this setup. I’ve got a few quick fixes on the lower unit I need to make before we can try it out.

Re: New boat question
Finally got to run the boat today. Not super impressed to say the lease. Me and my son who is 5 and regardless of what we did the front plowed water. We couldn’t get any lift at all. Motor seemed fine at about 4000-4100 rpm but boat won’t break 20mph. Anyone ever has this issue? Boat is a 1556mst with 36hp prodrive

New boat question
Doesn’t sound right. That’s a pretty small and light boat for that engine.
Check your prop and make sure both cylinders are firing right. Also, check shaft size too. Feel like that’s been an issue recently where shady sellers are pushing short shafts on tall transoms.
Pics and leakdown would likely help get a diagnosis here too.

Re: New boat question
here’s a pic of the boat. I can get measurements in the morning to double check. Motor seems to be running strong.

Re: New boat question
Cav Plate wont matter for deep water performance. Whats the bottom look like? Bet its dented up. causing you to plow.

Bottom actually doesn’t look that bad really. Nothing major we can see.

Is this your first SD? Have you experimented with the trim?

I’m wondering if the motor doesn’t need to be dropped some.

Re: New boat question
Well got home from work today and went over every inch of the boat. Turns out there are hooks on each of the pods on the hunt deck. Both are pretty bad. I’m a welder by trade and judging by the welds I can tell the joint was fitted like that. There are no scratches not sharp edges nothing. It’s like you dropped each pod on a bowling ball. Called Havoc and they said to find custom shop to repair. I’m going to cut top off of pods repair and then weld back up. Not a huge job just wasn’t to pleased with havocs phone call but it is what it is. Boat runs 20/21mph right now at 4,000 rpm. Prop and motor look and run fine. The hooks are probably about 1/2” to 3/4” deep so I don’t know if this is the whole problem but I’m sure it’s most of my issue.

Re: New boat question
It doesn't take much. Beat them out, add some plate or flatbar to reinforce those areas well, and roll out.

Re: New boat question
Well not so easy. Can’t get to it to beat it out. From the looks I’m fairly sure they hit the hull in reverse. A lot to fix. Only thing I can see if welding sheet on the bottom to cover up the hooks.

Re: New boat question
Damn, that thing is fucked! Lol
Doesn't help anything being a 15 foot boat, but that transom is mangled. Hope you didn't pay much for this rig. It's an awful match even if the bottom wasn't beat to shit.

New boat question
I guess that’s fixable, but honestly, I’d just sell the hull to someone wanting to put an outboard on it, and get a new hull.
Also, they must have been running on plane in reverse to have done that...

Re: New boat question
Something built for a mudmotor for starters. Any of the builders will put a pointed bow on for you. Prodrive is a good place to look. Their boats work well with their motors.
There's also a slough of custom builders who can do just about anything you want, within reason.

Re: New boat question
are these the same boats they had videos of jumping other boats and dragging em on concrete and said they were the toughest boats built? or was that another brand?

Re: New boat question
I do seem to remember a video or 2 of such shenanigans. This is at the back, though. They dont need any proper bracing back there lol

Re: New boat question
Well I can personally say that’s bs. Also if you call them they will tell you not their problem take it to a custom shop to be fixed.

Re: New boat question
Well we welding on some .125 plate over the hooks today and we are back to 29mph with lift. Ordered a new hull but at least have this one back to running okay.

29 is pretty darn good for a slow hull like that. That hook you had was killing your performance
