I am curious what everyone uses for cooler https://under-the-open-sky.com/best-coolers-for-boat/ situation. they are always big and in the way especially if other people bring their own coolers. do you use the igloo marine coolers or rolling coolers? I use the boat cooler for drinks and a small igloo for food.

I like the engel dry boxes for day coolers. small and lightweight.

I run a yeti 35 for bait and a K2 for food and drinks. I know it’s dumb to put minnows in a yeti, but it’ll keep bait cool all weekend with a couple frozen water bottles and I can stand on them and the lids won’t break or fall off.

I have an RTIC 45 for fun and fishing (good casting platform).

I have an RTIC 65 I use as a “deck extension” when bowfishing. Had to hydroturf the top though because it’ll get slick as you throw carp over it.

Watch RTIC and eventually they will do crazy sales. Got the 45 for $99, and the 65 for $125 a while back.

Shit, that’s a good deal. I’ll check back on them if they are marked down like that.

For hunting I keep a small yeti 10 as a driver seat and only pack what we need for that one trip. 17x48 need every inch.

Fishing is different. Yeti 45 on front deck and 30 in the back

Damn a cooler that weighs 40 pounds dry if I'm using it on a daily basis. I have an Ozark trail from Walmart that keeps ice as good my buddy's yeti. All the 2" polypropylene coolers are the same no matter the brand. Y'all wasting money.

I use soft side coolers cause I'm about tapped out on weight... unless I'm cat fishin then its Rtic time. On sale great price. Just gotta wait for it.

I fought that same argument, but at the end of the day, a roto molded cooler is superior. I have plenty of the old, and use on occasion but my yetis are nice, rtic makes top notch coolers aswell.

My biggest reason is sight fishing or bowfishing, a molded cooler will hold 250lbs no issue. Then is ice retention.

I'll never waste money on a rotomolded for bait (seems quite odd of a choice for my money, but whatever), but I prefer the rtic on sale or the orcas (which you can find for some decent sales too, just not as often). Have a Lifetime I just recently got that I like the latches on. It did pretty well on a recent 4 day trip in east texas where it stayed in the boat and still had ice when I got home. The lid is plenty strong enough for standing on. Stable, probably gonna grab another at some point for the money. Not as good with ice as my orca, but still good considering it didnt cost $100 for the 55 quart. The coleman extreme coolers keep ice really well, but dont latch, and have a bit of flex in the lid for standing. I have a couple large ones I keep at the house for drinks and stuff when people come over, and take to the camp or other trips, but i dont use them in the boat. Sitting would be fine, but unless I dropped under 200lbs, wouldn't use them for fishing off of.

I think you can only buy them through Rtic. Keep an eye on their web site, look to see if there is a place to sign up for sales, info etc.
