Havoc boats
I've searched and haven't found the answer I really want. Has anyone ran a havoc more than 1 season in stumps, logs, and other obstacles? I am considering a havoc because of the turning ability, but do not want to buy one for it to dent and hook easily. Note- if were to buy one it will have a .125 bottom.

Re: Havoc boats
Looks like you want to improve on your PD 40 with PD 1748 hull - which might be tough to do....
What are you hoping to improve upon most ?
Which model Havoc are you looking at ?
What motor are you looking at outboard or SD ?
IMO - More about the combo of motor and hull - than the individual motor or hull chosen ! Your PD rig was probably a pretty sweet setup !
Have never seen a true slick bottomed mud hull from Havoc - just the ribbed and "inverted ribbed" designs with Mod-v hull which is ideal for an outboard but less than ideal for a MM... The "inverted rib" is a neat concept if it works...
Round Chine hulls like my GD 1844 turn on a dime even in the skinny stuff - but you trade off a bit of speed and stability when fishing deep water - always tradeoffs with boat designs !

Re: Havoc boats
The havoc doesnt have a true mud hull, the mstc has inverted ribs, but can be bought in .125. It is flat across the bottom not semi v. We are hunting more timber now and the turning could be beneficial when running early mornings to get the hole. I have seen some that ran well with speed and load abilities, if i buy one it will have a gatortail on the back. I am honestly on the fence and leaning harder towards an extreme hull than a havoc but wanted some people personal experience with boats.

Re: Havoc boats
Interesting - you are breaking new ground I believe with the Havoc...
For all the money you pay for a GT - their hull offerings might better serve you...
But either way - very interesting...
I still think it might be hard to out do your PD rig - especially since you had and were used to full power reverse - a pretty sweet option...
Do you run veggies or just stumps... The GDSD is pretty sweet in stumps as compared to the tail heavy PD... I have seen PD have a hard time following my GDSD thru stumps like I had a hard time following them thru veggies...
My light 23 LT on a 16 foot was about the best stump jumper I ever ran - but was slow and could kick your azz from time to time - LOL...
I guess I am trying to pick your brain for what you want your next rig to do better than the PD rig ??? Because I suspect it was a pretty badass player...
Have you ever run an 18 or 20 foot PD hull ???
Longer is better in the MM world.... That is why I settled on my 1844 round chine because I was tired of sliding in the skinny water and needed to carry more stuff and fatter hunters - LOL...

Re: Havoc boats
The older prodrives were a pain in stumps, the new models with floating tiller handles make life easy. I always ran a prodrive due to the thick veggies and floton on the lake we hunted regularly. We have now transitioned into hunting timber and other areas with hard shallow bottoms where a prodrive struggles to get on step. Every motor has their pros and cons, prodrives are great and reliable but a gator tail will better suit my new areas of hunting.

Re: Havoc boats
Hard to spend that much coin without a solid test drive in the rig in question...
That was a big part of my decision making was getting the dealer to let me test two or three rigs first hand where I hunted and see how they performed...
Hope you can do the same or find someone with that setup to ride along with into an area like you need it to work...
Best of Luck - Good Hunting !

I agree, nothing will be bought without text driving. But I would like to hear some peoples experience of longevity.

Re: Havoc boats
Couple crimps with .125 and longitudinal bracing and I bet the hull is pretty strong. Does Havoc use 5052 or 5086?

Re: Havoc boats
From what i can find it is 5052, which isnt standard for a true mud hull.

Re: Havoc boats
I have own a 1656 DBST since 2017. Originally had a 50HP Tohatsu on her but couldnt go where I wanted so I traded it in for a 37 GTR XD and I love it. Ive given her hell and hit plenty of logs and stumps and a handful of rocks and shes been good to me so far. No busted welds or anything that I can find other than a few scratches from those rocks. Its not the IDEAL mud boat being the ribs on her, but for my rivers and lakes its just about perfect. Turns on a dime and runs is 2-6 inches of water on plane.
