 20 foot gator trax
I got a 20 foot gator trax boat. I swear this thing was set up for a long tail only. Anyhow I run a surface drive and the rear flotation pods are right where I want to be. I also have a gun box that I never use. Before the Caddo mud run and the white bass run I want to get my stuff right. I am wanting to cut the flotation boxes and the gun box out. I was thinking about moving the float boxes further to the front of the boat and putting swivel seat mounts on them and thus opening up the driver area. THem freakin boxes are going to get me thrown out one day if I don't get them fixed.
My question is does anyone have the same problem? Have you done something similar as I am going to do? Do you have any pics of the mods? I will thank you in advance for posting them up.

Just cut em out. These are on the inside of the boat correct? If so they only help you float if the boat is full of water.

 Re: 20 foot gator trax
I aint got a probelm with cutting them out. I was thinking about moving them forward and welding a ped mount for a swivel seat. That seems it would be the easiest way. If I take them out completely then I would have to rig somehting up for the ped mounted swivel seat. If yall don't mind post soem pics of what yall use so far as swivel seat mounts.

 Re: 20 foot gator trax
I guess your probably right about that permanent ped mount. I normally don't sit down. I just got rid of my fishing boat and I am going to use the mud rig for all purpose. 2 boats got to be really expensive.
Where I fish is a 40 minute boat ride from the ramp. I would like to be able to sit down for a little while on the straight aways like in the ICW. So I guess I need to get to cutting them boxes and gun box out to get them out of the way. I don't ever use the dern gun box. It is to much of a pain int he ass to get guns in and out. I just throw my floating gun case on top of the pile of gear in the front of the boat. I think I had my gun in there once.
