Are anybody else's go-devil hulls being recalled?

I received a letter in the mail friday stating that the flotation installed in the stern of the boat is faulty and will cause my boat to sink if the hull is swampped with water. What good is the flotation if it doesn't work?

Calm down there tiger. Its not faulty, there just ain't enough of it. I got the recall letter too. And a buddy of mine already had the fix installed on his hull.

All that foam deteriorates over time and gets water logged. What GD foam has ever lasted more than a few years????

So this has happened before?

My boat is 3 years old, and i got the notice. My buddy got the notice for his boat when it was about 4-5 months old i think. I'm glad they are offering a fix for this problem, but I also think there could be a better fix for it. I'm having Go-Devil ship it to me and install it myself.

They started offering the additional floatation boxes 6 months ago....

It is not a recall but a - free offer - for additional floatation....

It only includes certain size models....

Everyone who was / is an original buyer can get the additional
floatation box installed at GoDevil for free - or - ask to have it
shipped directly to you....

From what I understand the calculations for boat floatation is pretty simple. I dont know how they got the USGS tags unless they could demonstrate compliance?

Why couldn't they use sealed airtight chambers that won't get full of water or water logged?

I don't think it matters if you are 1st or 2nd owner. I'm the 3rd owner of my rig, and the lettter came to me. As long as go devil knows who the current owner is, looks to me like that person gets the letter. Did your buddy call go devil after he bought your boat? If so? He should be good. Maybe, he's lucky enough that his hull size isn't affected

It came in my new hull but I took it out.

Craig, go check out the new post about the 16x60 Go Devil boat with the 35 LT. In the 2nd pic, you can see the new flotation box that they add. It'll give you an idea of the fix.

Search - it's your friend - here is the pic he was talking about of the
added floataion box - he moved his battery back, but you can move the
battery forward also and place the box further back too....

Jesus Christ!! Thats a big box!! By the size of that thing I'd say Go-Devil was just a little off on their flotation calculations.

Oh....... and I used the search feature dumbass.

Since GD doesn't use a closed cell foam and it ends up gettin water logged and becomes useless doesn't everyone remove da floatation anyway.

Did you read that line ?

By the way which model do you have - did you hang more motor over
the transom than it was rated for ? This is the concern of the mfg
for your safety --- they have devised an additional floatation fix to
conteract the weight of these larger and often over rated spec motors
that are being used in the field by their customers ! ! !

Also your initial post used the words FAULTY and RECALL --- words which
in no way were included in your letter from Go-Devil....

But you wanted to put a "slant" on the true story

It is an OFFER....

Not a RECALL.... Toyota has a recall - the Pinto had a recall....

You can put your words and "slant" in there but it don't make it true....

But I am betting you hung more motor over the transom than it was
rated for - so none of that should matter beans to you - right ?

A FREE OFFER --- is a lot different than a government mandated recall !
