A guy who's runnin a 16/44 GT guide series with a 35 MB HD told me this:
"your getting about the same speeds as i am. i hit 26 when i have nothing in the boat....i have never personally ran a 27, but the speeds your getting sounds what i run now, but prolly the only difference between the 2 is prolly load carrying. now, i can say this, i have had me and 2 guys (200, 285, and 180) and a 75lb lab and prolly close to 200 pounds of gear and it would still run 22 to 23 constant, but it took a little while to plane out with that load, but it would get up and run when it planed....put a 4th guy in there and it wouldnt plane for nothing. im saying 12 mph tops -- very slow....now if you run 3 people or less and light load im not sure if you would see a difference between the 2 motors. if your pulling the load you hunt with now and think u need more 35 might work better for ya....oh and if you do go with the 35 i would suggest u get the single mikuni and twin or the single exhaust from what mudbuddy says and a couple guys i have talked to says it makes the 35 carry a load waaaaay better and even gain 2 to 3 mph so yeah the 35 might be worth a change..."
I've gotten several mixed reviews, so I'm more undecided now than I was before...
