 Re: GDSD prop blade widths?
I put my motor together this year from parts. A friend had a modded block he sold me, we added a few more goodies, and BoatDR ordered me a MB frame to hang it on. Worked out great for the price. I would have looked at the GT frames if they were available, but that wasn't an option.

 Re: GDSD prop blade widths?
There is a mb frame with merc trim for a little over $2k on the other forum. Think its $2300 but can't remember.

Well i guess others do. I can't answer for why but it's their motors their product they make the rules

 Re: GDSD prop blade widths?
I've got a prop that is worn to about what yours is. I've changed the pulleys for a little more speed, and will all the mods I'm running it blows out real bad, running around 4500 RPM.. I'm selling the GD frame in the spring for a MB frame. I agree... it's all about convenience..

 Re: GDSD prop blade widths?
Giga that doesn't make sense... if my motor were faster stock, then I wouldn't have modified it to begin with.

 Re: GDSD prop blade widths?
I agree, but what I'm saying is that a new prop is hardly enough to run on.... A new prop is great, but a stock one still aint goin past mine just because it has a new prop. Especially if there is a load involved... It'll still go 30 mph with 2 guys, gear, 15 gallons of gas, and 4 dozen decoys. A new prop will run at around 32 or 33 mph. I like to buy 2 props in the spring, one for fishing, then one for the fall hunting. This time of year I've usually got both of them ready to be replaced.

 Re: GDSD prop blade widths?
With your mods a 2 blade like the original GDSD used works great as it has more pitch and also less tendency to blow out at over 4000 rpm...
Hopkins designed and made it and still sells the same or very similar prop to PD today... I run that one all summer and then the 3 blade during hunting season...

 Re: GDSD prop blade widths?
What kind of RPM difference is there between the 2 blade hopkins and the 3 blade? If I cant find a buyer for my frame I will try that prop out next.
