the gd site lists an 8x4 prop for their 9hp lt and a 10x9 prop for the 9hp crawfish model with a clutch. what does having a clutch do to the motor to allow for a bigger prop, and would the 10x9 work on one without a clutch? i have a 9hp crawfish model without a clutch and plan on getting a new prop soon. just looking for some insite. thanks in advance |

That series 9 hp is a reduction gear with clutch, thats the reason it can turn the larger prop. |

No, the one with the bigger prop has a built in gear reduction nothing to do with the clutch. Does your motor have gear reduction? |

it came with an 8x4, which is what i will replace it with. i was just wondering how having a clutch would allow you to run such a larger prop. |
