I takin out the prop shaft on a 04 mudbuddy sport and I got the seal cap and gear off now does the shaft slide right out? I tried a little bit but feels like something else is holdin it in place. I don't know if them bearings make it hard or just a little rusted up. Any tips would be great thhanks for the help

There is a set screw on the side of the outdrive casting that may need to be loosened up. Alos don't forget to remove the drive tube cap on the prop end of the tube. Left hand threads. There are 4 bearing on the shaft. two inside two outside, plus 4 seals.

If you've got the prop, outdrive cap, the gear off and screw loose it should push right out. You may have to convince it with a little force though. Rubber mallet or a good piece of hardwood and a large ball peen hammer. Make sure you support the outdrive casting when you are forcing it you don't want to break that. Their hard to find for that year. The bearings may be a bit rusted to the shaft as well. Make sure you shoot it with something type of creeping oil or pb blaster or something to give you some help.

Thanks iam have to pull the shaft because the guy that owns this motor got hit or hit it from the side and it twisted the tude to snap that set screw off and I have to re drill and tap the tube. I was tnkin bout putting it in a press to slide the shaft out it. Forgot to ask does it pull out the prop end and if I only slide it out half way will the bearings stay in place? Thanks

Go it out and back together. Idk how anyone can do it if they just got a hammer. We have a low ton press meaning the stroke can be brought down by hand and if I didn't have that would of never got it out. Thanks of the help
