Post subject: | Used Longtail Prop Size |
A few years ago I bought a 2001 Go-Devil LT that was a Briggs & Stratton 5.9 that had been modded to a 9.9. Never seen Go-Devil on it so could be homemade like the trailer that was sold with it. Anyways it appears it has 7 x 5 GD prop on it which I assume wasnt ever updated after the mod in comparison to GD prop recommendations on their website. Two questions, would a 8 x 4 GD prop make any difference in speed? What another type prop do anything? I mean I know its a 9.9, but a little would help a lot! Thanks for any input. |

Go devil 7x5 has no cup, that's why they recommend 8x4.... So on a go devil prop u will go 1" wider on prop and less pitch! 7x4 is what's recommended by backh2o and mud buddy, both have cupping... I'd go with a BPS tiger 7x4, I like the heavier cup.... More cup, the more load and digging power, not a speed prop..... Want speed, go with Godevil 8x4 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Not to hijack but where is it stamped on the prop? I just got a used gdlt 25 with a basically new prop on it. It has some visible cup but I don't know what size it it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

First a pic to determine if it is indeed Go-Devil or homemade. Second a pic of the prop because it doesnt even look lkke I could accomodate an 8 inch prop due to spacing. |

If it is a true godevil it should have a serial number underneath the upper U joint near the engine. but Ive never seen a GD that small, but the cav plate does look like a GD so it could go either way. |

Im not seeing a seriel # but Im trying to find out if GD 8 x4 prop would allow any more speed? Do you think prop was changed when modded from 5.9 to 9.9? Idont think so because the cav plate would allow an additional inch on a bigger prop. I think im stuck with a really slow mud motor. Any answers/suggestions are appreciated. |

The prop size I would look at would be a 7x4 or possibly a 8x4... If you dont have a serial number that corresponds to Go-Devil's records they will not sell you any parts... in that case call the guys at backwater and tell em you want a prop and what you have... Jake and Arlen are both great people to talk with on the phone and know their stuff, never mind their outstanding customer service... |

its a go-devil the serial number is under the u-joint on the plate you need to clean up the grease to find it. |
