Hey guys,

The boat:

This is my first post and I'm doing some research for my dad on his mud motor. Its a 2005 35HD sport mounted on a 2003 18' gatortrax boat. We've been having trouble getting it to come out of the hole. As far as I know the motor is stock and the hull of the boat has "for commercial use only" stamped on the hull. We bought it from a guy that thrashed it and we've been fixing it up ever since. We're pretty sure the motor isn't the one that came with the boat as they are different model years

The problem:

It feels like the clutch is slipping and the motor boggs down really bad. It eventually picks itself up after we trim it all the way down and WOT it. It broke the shaft two outings after we bought it and we rebuilt the whole lower unit. We bought supposedly the only clutch mud buddy had for our motor and it has never ran right like the youtube videos say it is supposed to. It won't even run right in open water. It only tops out at around 12mph. I'll try to take a video of it next time I take it out. We only use it in the snake river so there is no mud, just moss every once in a while.

Thanks in advance for all the help.

Mark

Prop condition? RPM in the water? Current compression and leak-down test numbers?
