I have a 1653 havoc mst with a 35 gatortail with 2 people in the boat at 4200 rpm I'm only getting about 24 to 25 does that sound right and would a new prop help its got a few dents in it

I'm not familiar with that boat but I would guess its a prop/ hull issue. Those speeds aren't bad. 1 less dent in hull+1mph. New prop +1 mph. Then it sounds right, lol

If that motor is stock then I️ would suggest trimming down some. I️ have an excel F4. Very similar boat to yours. I️ just try and get my rpms to be at about 3700-3900 seems to be the sweet spot. But honestly you may only see a 1-2 mph change that’s almost the right speed.

I have some buddies with very similar boats and the 37 ego gator tail getting in the low 30s is there really that much difference in the motors and by dents I meant dings in the prop

Sure it is possible for the engine to be a bit low on power. check maintainance like air filter, valve adjustments, spark plugs and a leakdown test to insure the engine is in good shape
