I just bought my buddy's 2016 15ft Alumaweld (This is the v bottom style that Academy sells for $2599). I think at $3000 I got a good package deal. It has 26 hours on it. I was skeptical when he said he was buy this thing but have really been impressed with it. 23 mph with both of us and about 150#'s of gear. We had it on a 14ft john boat first and at 28mph, it felt dangerous.

Problem:
He was putting grease in the lower unit and popped the seal. It is getting grease up into the belt housing. I plan to tear it down and and replace the seals. Does anyone on here have any experience with this? Copperhead says they can be snapped back on?

I believe they are referring to the front shaft seal popping out. If so you can remove the lower gear and reinstall the seal . If its hurt replace it

How big of a deal is it to tear one of these down?

If your an average gearhead then it's not bad. The only tricky part is when the thrust bearing needs to be replaced, wich yours does not as far as we know. The seals are not bad to replace
