Noticed today while out jacking around that the tiller had a lot of torque on it and had to keep pushing it away from me to keep it on a straight heading. Not sure when it happened but it seems the LU and power block are not aligned causing me to constantly 'push' the tiller to keep it straight. I modified it a couple years ago from a short shank to a long shank but don't remember that much torque on the tiller.

Picture might not do it justice but you can see there is a significant difference to where i think it should be. My assumption is i can pull off the power head and try to correct the alignment ? Anybody got any other suggestions?

It's manual reverse. When I did the conversion from short shank to long shank KP sent me the 'new' reverse piece.

Agree there some slack in there, but this is more.

I've got to pretty much keep pushing the tiller away from me to stay on a straight line.

I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Mine has looked that way for years.

As for tiller torque, the photo depiction is not the reason. Take some pics of your skeg and the torque wedge. Or, try adjusting the weight in your hull, changing the trim height...all kinds of things can be giving you tiller torque....but, alignment with your power head is not one of them.

Some of us don't hate pd, but still think if you pay that kind of money the tiller should line up with the lower unit, but whatever....

Mine has the same amount of play and hasn't caused any issues. I get monster tiller torque if the trim isn't just right. Try teasing your trim up/down a smidge. Fixes the torque on mine to next to none

That won’t cause tiller torque. Trim, prop or skeg jacked up will though...
