Took my prop off to clean shaft and threads... Does the washer go on before for the prop or after the prop. 4400 HDR Mud Buddy

On my gatortail it is after and it is shaped to hold pressure on nut and prop. Can not remember the name of the washer.

So it's a "pressure washer"?

I wasn't being helpful, just said it outloud, chuckled, figured I let others have a potential chuckle over a stupid pun.

Back on topic. The washer needed there isn't a big deal, as long as it's the right thickness. The op has the washer, just wanted to confirm location for install. You done solved that riddle for him.

I'm not familiar with the washer at all...but, if it's like you describe, that's called a belleville washer. It's cupped to give additional compressional forces to keep a nut in place and keep tension on the mechanical joint.

If it is truly a Belleville washer, they typically are placed under the nut. They are dish/cone shaped. The smaller surface should be against the nut.

Ok,, so I took the BB off to put the new Hammer blade on... this washer will not fit inside the Hammer blade. I put the Hammer blade on the shaft then go to put the washer on and the washer is slightly bigger than the recessed area of the prop... Is this common... I wound up sanding the diameter of the washer down a bit so it would fit in the recessed hole of the Hammer prop... ???
