Post 11p/12p big blade
So got a stock big blade on a 40 hdr. What difference can I expect out of an 11 p and a 12 p worked props? Before and after season will mostly be just me and the pup (250 lbs. total) during season i could look upwards of 550-600 lbs.

It will make about a 3-4 mph difference if it is anything like my 40 GTR bro

More pitch= higher theoretical top speed. The 40 ought to be able to turn a 12p with no issue, but the 11 is probably best for the 40. The 12 will probably lug the engine a little.

For my 40 GTR, the 12 was perfect. It brought me from 31 to 34-35 range at 4400 rpms. Now, the hole shot is not good, but once you get over 3k, it eats.

An 11 with a bit more cup would be better. No the top spread wouldn't be quite as high, but the holeshot and load carrying would be better.

With my 12, I was running 34.2 today all day with two people, two full ice chests, and fishing gear. My 12 carries a load perfectly with my boat. Baggy did some numbers and said that 12 was perfect.

Now, based on my tests and what my prop guy tells me, a lower pitch on a two blade is required for better performance than in a 3 blade. My GTR fat blade is a 10 pitch and it runs goo. Get it worked to a 10, see if you need some more, and then go up a half inch or so until it's dialed in just right. That's what I did

Had a prop guy (wont say any names) tell me to run a 12 pitch for light loads and an 11 pitch for heavy loads. Now im no prop guru by any means but wouldnt it be the other way around? Maybe not just wondering how that is correct?

Because i plan on buying an extra prop why not just run a stock hammer? I wont know what my rpm’s are until next weekend but the way im looking at its already pitched at 11 just 1/2” larger in diameter? Also realy curious about this raptor prop. My motor didnt come with it like most but havent read a whole lot on them from anyone that’s ran them.

Have no experience on a raptor prop. Wouldn't know what to tell you in that respect.

As far as the big blade and the fat blade, they are stamped 10 pitch. It they are actually 8.5 ( believe me or not), when you actually neasure them. Baggy worked mine to an actual 10, instead of an 8.5

Higher pitch requires more power. Heavier loads require more power. Lower pitch allows the motor to work easier on spinning the prop (itll spin it faster) so it can carry that load better.

You can turn a hammer, top speed won't be as high as the smaller big blade at 12p, but it'll tote a load much better.

I don't use 3 blades. Tried a couple (2 worked, 1 stock), don't like them for my uses. Some people love them. I hop on plane with 2 and my hunt load in very shallow water, quickly with my worked 2 blade.

I love my 3 blade for fishing and long runs (top end is excellent) and I love my 2 blade for bunting( top end isn't as good but holeshot is excellent). Depends on you application I suppose and what you are trying to accomplish.

A satin bead finish is better for top end because of the water bubbles it creates and a polished prop is better for holeshot because of less resistance against the water

A modded gtr.
Check the motors for sale in the classifieds for more detail. Setx was the last one to post on my sale thread.

It’s crazy how much one more inch of pitch can change things up like that.....but then again......ITS SCIENCE! Lol
