Hey guys, I have a 2006 Gen 1 lower unit and replaced the bearing in the upper, now am putting back together, should I line up the gears a certain way?. Is there a particular alignment to pay attention to?

Here is a pic of the gear at head of prop shaft; it had the lower upper bearing for dinner whch I have now replaced. Think I should replace this gear also or anybody think its critical??
Thanks.

PD no longer has this gear to order..it was made by curtis machine whhich no longer has them in inventory and does not make. Anybody know a machine shop that could reengineer? Or know somebody that may have Gen 1 LU with parts? Open to any ideas..?

Maybe you will get lucky and find someone with some parts. If not I bet having one made would be very expensive. If it was mine and I couldn't find some used parts I would run it, but plan on getting a new lower unit.

A good shop could repair that one for a couple hundred bucks.
