Ride sounds like a bust

Not for me. I have the day off and I haven't had the boat in the water since the end of duck season. I will be there.

This plan isn't exactly going as planned!

PRO said he's not going to make it. Him and some outboards are heading to his cabin on the Pearl. I am still going to show up and check it out. I will cruise around even if nobody else shows up. Then, I am going to pick up and go meet PRO at the cabin.

So, if anybody else is there, great! If not, sorry we missed out and wish I could have made the Easter weekend ride. Hope to see y'all another time!

I was definitely the only surface drive at Trader Tommy's, Saturday.

Things I learned about "The Rez" on Saturday:

GW's work 3 to a landing...tax dollars at work...and I use the term "work" very loosely.
The place is a stump mine field.
I was shocked to see so many alligators and a pack of nutria in the backwaters.
There were enough boats out there that you could walk across them.
Boats don't slow down for other boats fishing. For the most part, I did.
Some guys think their Kevlar transom extends across and through the bottom of the boat....as noticed when the 100+ lbs. thrust trolling motor on the front would not pull them over the stumps, they resorted to the 250 lbs thruster on the back to push them over it.

I did find a few areas where apparently the fish weren't biting...because nobody was fishing there. I did get to enjoy a little vegetation, mud and stumps at those locations. I also found somebody's fleece hunting jacket...at least my prop did. I didn't see any bones with it so I am hoping it was just a lost jacket!

I picked the boat up around 1:00 to the sight of the same three boat launch campers...errr...game wardens. I didn't get any harassment from them at all. I guess wearing my PFD and kill switch excluded me from closer scrutiny, even though I was wearing an LSU shirt and cap! One asked if I had been fishing. I told him I had not. His reply was simply, "That's all I needed to know." Maybe he was just a biologist?

At any rate, I headed up towards Philadelphia and put in on the Pearl River and net Pearl River Outlaw at his cabin on the river. Another guy was there with a MB...he is actually an MMT member...not sure of his user name, though.

We had a good time on the twisting and turning Pearl. Got over a couple beaver dams and into some backwaters for some fun. Pretty good time down there. Thanks PRO for the invitation and showing me around! Great meeting you and the other guys.
