Sparkleberry 2015??
Has there been anything set in stone for the run this summer? Have intentions of making it over there this year but one of my buddies coming is trying to figure out what weekend to leave open on his schedule. I read somewhere on here that June 6 was the tentative date but was not sure how much truth was in this.

June 6 is correct. Run will start at 8am. Buy a couple hands for two great organizations instead of mooching off it for the party.

Re: Sparkleberry 2015??
Scmudder if you know anyone in charge at the run how about suggest to them to put out a donation bucket at the sign in at a separate spot than the registration table. Me and my buddys always buy some hands to help out but never actually play them. As you know the line to register can be very long at times. Last year while we were waiting to register we saw several people that got tired of waiting and left. I know they work as fast as they can and there is a huge amount of people to get through in a short time, but some people are impatient and won't wait. That's why I suggest a donation bucket for people who just want to help out or don't want to wait in line. There may already be one there but I have never noticed it.

^ great idea right here. The rule for riding in my boat is that you MUST buy a hand

Re: Sparkleberry 2015??
I know several of the guys who put it on. I can bring it to their attention but don't expect it. I always make a post here before every run with all the information needed for early registration which is the way to go.
I will say this, if they really wanted to help, they wouldn't mind waiting just a few more minutes.

Re: Sparkleberry 2015??
It's just a thought on how to maybe get a little more money for the cause. It may get some that wouldn't normally give anything to throw in a few dollars. Everyone now is so impatient its hard to get some people to wait a few minutes. Isn't the pre registration just a form to fill out ahead of time, but you still have to wait in line to get up to the table? Last year when we went to register we were about 15 people back from the table. It didn't take too long and Im not complaining about the wait. They do a great job getting everyone registered as fast as they do. I was just thinking about another way to help out the cause.

Re: Sparkleberry 2015??
If you fill out your preregistration form out and mail it in with payment, your package will be waiting for you in a boat in the flats at Packs so you can skip the entire fiasco at the landing.
I wasn't shooting your idea down either. The run was started as a good old boy event and they never expected it to become this large. It is a great time and even tho half of the people don't buy hands, a lot of money is raised and best of all, it stays in SC.

Re: Sparkleberry 2015??
Yes it's amazing how many show up. I know there has to be lots of work done to pull of an event that big that most people don't even realize the work that has gone into it. I wonder how many boats show up each year? I would guess between 200 to 300 boats and I bet less than half of them register.

Re: Sparkleberry 2015??
DNR estimated over 400 boats last year. I can't remember how many hands were bought but most participating boats paid for 3-4 hands so if half played, it was still a good turnout.
Will you be attending this year?

Wow I didn't realize it was that many boats, bu there is so many you can't really see them all. If nothing happens we will be back again this year.

Re: Sparkleberry 2015??
We're looking to bring 3 or 4 boats from North Georgia. It's definitely gaining word of mouth around this area.
Looking forward to meeting everybody though.

And that was with the weather being iffy. Year before, it was sunny and not too hot. DNR estimated 500+ boats.
If any of y'all stay at Carolina Kings, give me a shout. We will have one of the larger cabins on waterfront with plenty of cold beer and food all weekend long.

Re: Sparkleberry 2015??
It is just a one day run right? Regardless, we are probably going to have to be there Friday through Sunday because it will be close to 9 hour drive for us.

Re: Sparkleberry 2015??
The run is on Saturday only but all the mud motor guys head to the cooper river on Sunday, for the "day after in the river". It's about an hour SE of Packs Landing.

Re: Sparkleberry 2015??
Me and some buddies are wanting to join in. Never been up that way. Can some one give me an idea of where this is and what towns to look for hotels at? Thanks

Re: Sparkleberry 2015??
The run starts at Pack's Landing in Rimini, SC. Closest hotels are in Santee, SC which is about 15 minutes away. There are a few places on the lake that offer camping spots, whether it be primitive, pull behinds or renting a cabin.
