If you're getting here on I-10 you cross the Pearl River WMA when you enter LA. Look south of I-10 down river and below Hwy 90 the west and middle Pearl river offers some OK public shooting. Check out google earth etc. I live in Slidell. I used to live in Columbus, GA. If you're in the area in Dec. hit me up. SS |

Ive hunted Pearl River a good bit. If you have the mudboat and a little time to scout you ll do well. In fact one of the first few hunts I had out there I shot a big ole banded greeenhead. They have a lil variety of birds out there and if there s a good crowd out there the birds will keep moving for a while. |

I appreciate all the help. If I come out there it will be a Thursday night and try to hunt friday, Saturday, and Sunday morning. Trying to find somewhere I can go friday morning without getting too lost. Then I will scout around after the morning hunt |

Well I don't know much about south Louisiana but Central Louisiana is a different story. I hunt on Catahoula Lake which is state land. There was a total of 433 ducks killed out of my blind last season. I am not a quide I just enjoy duck hunting. I had friends from all over Louisiana coming and hunting with me last year. But that is not the only public hunting area around here. We also have Dewey Wills WMA, Federal Goose Reserve north of Catahoula Lake, Beouf River WMA, West Ouchita WMA and Russell Sage WMA. There are numerous public hunting oppurtunities in Central Louisiana. And I believe the ducks taste better where I am at. They don't have a fishy taste as with the marsh. This year is shaping up similar to last year just not as much brown top and other vegatation as last year. Anyway if you head over here this season drop me a line and I can find some ducks for you. |
