 Re: 18x4 Brother Breaux Bateau
That is a great looking boat, it is exactly what I want my boat to be when it grows up

Great looking boat! I am a big fan of uncluttered hulls. Looks tough too!

 Re: 18x4 Brother Breaux Bateau
I like it. Open hull for sure. If you hunt out of that rig, what type of blind do you use? The hydroturf is good, I have done just my bow deck for now, it is expensive but eventually will do the full floor. Do you ever incorporate a gunwale track/channel for some accessories? Would this be feasible? Can you make me a say, .100, "speed hull"? Does the hull have flotation? Thank you for sharing!

Just the material for the boat pencils out to around 435 lbs. Add weight for bracing, welds etc and I'd say you're a little heavy. Granted this is give or take a little based on exact dimensions of the material. I also figured for 24" sides.

With 6 2x2 longitudinal braces and 3 cross braces the material weight for that hull w 24" sides is 500 lbs including the deck.

I think your a little on the light side
-cross braces aren't the same material as the long braces. -do you know the transom bracing material? -including the 3/16ths catwalks? -the gunnel material before the catwalks are added? -the material used to brace the front deck? -including the bulkhead for the dry storage? -the half pipe for the front "bumper" of the boat?
I'm guessing more like 575

 Re: 18x4 Brother Breaux Bateau
Not that you really care how much it weighs...but anyone who wanted to know the weight of their hull could probably take it to a weigh station, weigh it, and then subtract the advertised weight of the motor and trailer, etc.

Right^^
But I couldn't take Owens boat to a weigh station while I was at my desk in Minnesota.
I was thinking the same thing as I did the math though.

Owen, how do you like the skeg. Noticed its shaved down. Mine is still origional. Thats the only complaint I have with my 36PD is the vegatation get hung on it if I stop. That looks like it would just knife through it.
