 Project Coat it
Ok, I ordered a product today named 'Coat It' by Goop. Like Steel Flex and Frog Spit. This evening I pulled the motor and all the other stuff off and out of the boat and flipped it over. Thursday I plan on sanding the paint of and preping it for the epoxy. Gonna Coat It on Friday and run it on Sunday. I will update this review as I go.

 Re: Project Coat it
I am not gonna put out der what I payed for my rig. (price is between me an Rick) All custom boats have a different amount of detailing bein built in to them. It is not fair to compare apples to oranges. Also, witout seein a boat in person you can't really tell how much time a boat builder has invested in it. But I will say dis if I were to put it up for sell today, I would'nt take less than $18,500.

 Re: Project Coat it
First of all. I didn't take the photo it was sent to me by a member of another site. I did however almost run over the tree as it floated across the ICW that Saturday AM. I am told the shark was found just near the cut. They moved it to deeper water tried to revive but she was done... They tail roped her, dragged and tied her off to the tree to come retrieve later (which by this point was on the shore of the ICW... Upon returning with more help to get it in the boat it was gone. Someone ate it I passed that area twice that Saturday wish I would have known I would have taken some pics with me & the shark

 Re: Project Coat it
OK, Coat it is on the hull. 16 pounds was not enough to completly fill in all the hooks. If I really wanted to spend an ass load of time, i would have done some body work on the hull first, pull out the hooks and smooth them out with body filler, but that is too much work. All the little dimples are gone, and the bottom is smooth. Gonna go check on the finished work later this morning and go rerig my boat. Pics of the application will be posted. I think this stuff is gonna be good for preventing further damage, we will see. Detailed review coming Sunday or Monday.

 Re: Project Coat it
OK, I have been pressed for time lately and haven't had a chance to get the pics uploaded. My quick review. The 16 lbs of Coat It didn't fill in my hooks as much as I would have liked. I would recommend as I said earlier to do body work and use a marine grade body filler before appling the product. It did slick the bottom up, not enough for it to slide off the trailer, but a tiny push is all it takes. Also the boat slide over grass and land like nothing and the epoxy held up great. I also beached the boat on sand to see how pushing it off of that was. Well, it wasn't easy, but it was easier thna before. Couldn't get good speed results due to the chop, but I did hit 26mph @ 3800 rpm, which is the fastest I have ever been in this boat. On a slick day I would think i could get a little more out of it. All in all I am satisfied. When I get more time I will post the pics. Application was fairly easy, took about an hour. Watch out, the foam rollers will start to brack apart after about 20 min of appling the epoxy, it is a bitch trying to pick the little peices out of it and then smoothing it out. Any way, that is that for now.

 Re: Project Coat it
All I did was use a grinder to remove the paint with a soft wheel, cant remember which one, and then washed it down with acetone.
