Last Wednesday, I picked up my rig from Jason and crew. I couldn't be any more pleased with the entire process. Jason, thanks for dealing with all of my phone calls and answering all my questions. Jacob, your work is awesome. Thanks again.

Now for the details.

Boat:
18x58 with huntdeck
21 inch sides 1/8th thick
3/16ths inch bottom
Double floor
Removable poling platform
7 foot rod/gun box
4 foot front deck... 30 inches of storage, 18 inch overhang for fuel tank storage
Wide gunnels
Nat Gear paint with Max4 overlay by Cajun Camo
Dark Grey diamond cut hydroturf installed by Cajun Camo
Diamond City Aluminum Trailer

Motor:
2011 Mud Buddy Black Death 4500
IM Heads
BPS Cam
BPS Black Death Intake
Mikuini Carb
BPS Roller Rockers
BPS Billet Push Rods
BPS Dual Exhaust
BPS Billet Throttle Lever

I picked up the boat early Wednesday morning and started installing the accessories as soon as I got it home. Only able to work on it for about 3 hours because I had to work that night. About another 3 hours Thursday before work that night and about 6 hours on Friday finished it all up.
Installed 2 Blue Top Optima batteries with an onboard charger. All LED navigation lights. LED headlight from Mud Buddy. Interior LED's under the wide gunnel. Radio with 4 speakers and amp.
Lowrance HDS5 GPS.

Maiden voyage Saturday morning with my stepdad. Total load was everything listed above, 9 gals of fuel plus about 600 lbs of peopel, gear and adult beverages.
Deep water speeds of 27-28. Haven't found any shallow water yet.
Sunday my and the fiance went out in it to meet some friends. Deep water speeds with her and I and an ice chest of beer, 28-29.

I could not be happier with the way my boat turned out, the service I recieved, and even after the sale when I got a phone call to see if everything worked like I was hoping. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll have to buy another boat, but f I did Jason and the rest of the crew would definately be my first and only choice!

Thanks guys.

I'm happy as hell with my speeds. And all of those speeds are GPS speeds running 4100 - 4150 RPMS. Maybe I'm being a little cautious with the new rig, but I kept the motor trimed down to keep the RPMS around 4100. There might be more left in her, but that was good enough for this weekend.

Thanks. I told my buddy running it for the first time was almost like getting my first piece all over again. I've been smiling since I first put it in the water.

That's a real nice boat, u won't be sorry u built it extra strong. Why 58" wide, just know most boats are 54 or 60.

Post subject:  Re: 18x58 Uncle J and Mud Buddy Black Death 4500

I'll try to play with the RPMS more when I head out tomorrow night to go frogging. The 58" bottom allowed me to use a 60" wide sheet for the double floor. If I would have went a true 60" bottom, the 1/8th floor wouls have had to be cut from a 72" sheet. Almost 10" of waste, so I went with a 58" bottom.

Post subject:  Re: 18x58 Uncle J and Mud Buddy Black Death 4500

No doubt that thing is a tank. It looks like it has 12 cross braces spaced about every foot (typical is 5-6)! Plus you ran the vertical braces all the way up the rake. Very nice! How much extra weight did the extra bracing add? This looks like a very well thought out hull. Congrats man, and J and Co.- nice work!

Ran it last night for the first time with a load. Had 4 people and a 120 qt ice chest of adult beverages. I'm guessing between 8 - 900 lbs total load in the boat. She ran about 24.5 - 25 MPH. That was in the intracostal canal. In some of the shallower cuts I saw 26 MPH at times. I'm guessing about 2-3 feet of water in the shallower canals. Still holding her at about 4050 - 4100 RPMS. I couldn't be happier with this rig!!!!

Congrats on rig thing is unreal. I'm starting to figure out which way I'm going to go and get one in spring.3-man hide is right up my ally but love uncle j's work and specs on your hull. They ever build something in order of a layout system like the hide? Thanx and again very nice rig

Thanks Honker. I'm not sure if Uncle J has ever built a hide boat, but I'd be willing to bet that they could. Between Jacob, Heath, and starting today with Ricky Aucoin all in one shop, I doubt you can dream up something they can't build.

Great looking boat! I was wondering what are the extra holes in the gunwhales just aft of the front deck for? I saw two more on the bow but originally I assumed they were spud holes.

The extra holes are for my bow fishing rig. If I ever get a chance to build one.
