Has anyone tried out one of these new motors? Ive heard that they run well in thick stuff and it makes sense because of the extra long 32" drive that should enable it to dig in to the mud better. They are on back order for a month and I would be running it on a 16x60 go devil boat. Has anyone ran anything close to this that could give me some speeds and performance?

The Mb mud special isn't just a longer shaft, its a shorter belt housing higher from the water also.

when you are in Really thick tall grass the belt housing will still clear it.

I ordered one last week... Hopefully I will have it in the next week or two, and will post some numbers then.

yeah the shorter belt housing i knew about, but if you match up your transom size correctly the belt housing should never stick below the bottom of the transom anyway. I can still see how the shorter housing will help but im more concerned with the thompson trim instead of the mercury trim. Ive heard that this motor is more balanced than the sport which makes it easier to lift out of the water but I just wanted to hear everyones oppinion. Also, what are yalls thoughts about cavitation plates? yes? no? doesn't matter?

I have tried both with and with out the cav. plate and I can definitely feel the difference with it on bites way better but i have noticed that it is too long, sometimes it bogs the motor down i plan on fixing this by cutting the plate to even with the blades of the prop. right now it sticks out about a half inch or so passed the prop.
